Meet Pastor Rosalyn De Koster

Rev. Rosalyn De Koster

Pastor Rose grew up in Hospers, Iowa, and attended Northwestern College in OrangeCity, IA.  After college, she moved to Virginia for a couple of years before returning to Iowa, and working for the YMCA of Greater Des Moines for 5 years. While in Des Moines, she rekindled an old friendship with her now husband, Philip, and a few years later they got married and moved back to Philip’s hometown, Hull in late 2013.

Her road to seminary was a winding journey that included forced summer camp chaplaincy, three episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, and a car ride with her spouse.  Pr. Rose started at Western Theological Seminary in 2014 via distance learning, and had both of her children, Joshua & Simeon, while in school.  Before, during, and after graduation, Pr. Rose worked for a church in Orange City for 11 years in a variety of roles. She was ordained in 2021.  She started working at Hope in October 2024 as an interim pastor.

Pr. Rose collects memories via coffee mugs and music. She’s an avid Disney fan, and likes to cook, bake, and can with the produce from the family garden. She is a firm believer that when everything is going bad, just add water.
